• Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe laid the foundation stone of India's first bullet train project that will run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

• According to research agency Kantar Millward Brown's 'BrandZTop 50 Most Valuable Indian Brands 2017' list, HDFC bank has retained the top slot for the fourth year in a row while Reliance Jio has been ranked 11th in this list.

• Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT) has been awarded 'Container Terminal of the Year' Award for the above 0.6 million TEUs category at The Gateway Awards 2017 held at Mumbai.

• Indian swimmers won 47 medals, including eight golds, at the 9th Asian Age-group Aquatic Championship. This tournament was held from September 8 to 12 at Tashkent in Uzbekistan.

• Wholesale inflation rose to a four-month high of 3.24 per cent in August. Inflation based on the wholesale price index (WPI) was 1.88 per cent in July 2017 and 1.09 per cent in August 2016.

अगस्त महीने में थोक मूल्य आधारित मुद्रास्फीति बढ़कर चार महीने के उच्च स्तर 3.24 प्रतिशत पर पहुंच गयी। थोक मूल्य आधारित मुद्रास्फीति जुलाई 2017 में 1.88 प्रतिशत व अगस्त 2016 में 1.09 प्रतिशत थी।

• According to the Japanese financial services company Nomura, India's GDP growth will be 7.1 percent in the current financial year.

जापानी वित्तीय सेवा प्रदाता कंपनी नोमूरा के अनुसार मौजूदा वित्त वर्ष में भारत की जीडीपी वृद्धि दर 7.1 प्रतिशत रहेगी।

• Nepal has signed an agreement with the US government’ Millennium Challenge Corporation to receive a grant worth USD 500 million in next five years to spur private investment and economic growth to reduce poverty in the country.

नेपाल ने निजी निवेश एवं आर्थिक वृद्धि को तेज करने तथा गरीबी घटाने के उद्देश्य से अमेरिकी सरकार के मिलेनियम चैलेंज कॉरपोरेशन के साथ अनुबंध पर हस्ताक्षर किया है। इसके तहत नेपाल को अगले पांच साल में 50 करोड़ डॉलर का अनुदान मिलेगा।

• Senior bureaucrat Rajni Sekhri Sibal has been appointed the director general (DG) of the government-run National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, in place of Vijay Kumar Dev.

बिहार के अररिया संसदीय क्षेत्र से राजद सांसद और पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री मोहम्मद तसलीमुद्दीन का निधन हो गया। वह 74 वर्ष के थे।

• Indian skipper Virat Kohli maintained his top spot in the latest ICC ranking of T20 batsmen, while pacer Jasprit Bumrah climbed up a place to be at second position in the bowlers' table.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation the Sardar Sarovar Dam, almost 56 years after its foundation stone was laid.

• War hero Marshal Arjan Singh passed away. He was 98. He led the Indian Airforce in the Indo-Pak war of 1965.

• Dr KS Chugh, who was known as the 'Father of nephrology in India', passed away. He was 85.

डॉ केएस चघ, जिन्हें'भारत में नेफ्रोलॉजी के जनक' के रूप में जाना जाता है, का निधन हो गया। वह 85 वर्ष के थे। 

• China issued a commemorative stamp in honour of the world's largest radio telescope located in Guizhou province.

• Former Delhi football team captain, Santosh Kujur passed away. He was 53.

दिल्ली फुटबाल टीम के पूर्व कप्तान संतोष कुजुर का निधन हो गया। वह 53 वर्ष के थे।

• The First ‘BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise- 2017’ (BIMSTEC DMEx-2017) will be conducted by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from October 10-13, 2017 in Delhi.

• The first of the six Scorpene-class submarines, INS Kalvari, was delivered to the Indian Navy by Mazagon Dock Limited headquartered in Mumbai.
